Gavin Newsom has No Shame

Maybe you've seen the pictures of (immunocompromised) Magic Johnson palling around with Gavin Newsom in their suite at the NFC championship game in LA? They were joined by other California leaders such as the mayor's of LA and SF, and wouldn't you know it, not a single mask can be found among the entire group.

Some of the state's top leaders were photographed not wearing their masks. They may have simply taken them off for the picture, but its still a frustrating visual for many parents. Several are questioning the science for their kids needing to mask at outdoor recess.

This as we are still subject to Gavin's State of Emergency declaration which includes a statewide indoor mask mandate and vaccine requirements at all large events. None of these restrictions were enforced at the game on Sunday, and it really makes one wonder, if they aren't needed at a "super-spreader event" with 75,000 people, when are they needed?

Zero mask enforcement. Zero vax card enforcement. Just people having a good time. Even the guy in front of me who walked in with an N95 had to take it off to drink his margarita.

What's most galling is that on Monday pre-schoolers across the state will be forced into masks all day long with no breaks, but the damn Governor can't be bothered to put one on for a photo op. This as every single person in that stadium is at greater risk from Covid than your average pre-schooler.

Watching the game, where no one is paying any attention to these rules, and the broadcast goes out of there way to avoid the issue, it's clear to me that not only don't our leaders believe any of their own BS, they seem unwilling to let the rest of the world see just how crazy California actually still is.

A stadium of mostly maskless fans celebrate a Los Angeles Rams touchdown! Meanwhile, young children in Los Angeles will struggle to learn, make friends, and receive essential therapies from behind a mask tomorrow. We need to call out this anti-science cruelty every single time.

Hopefully, this is a sign that the jig is finally up, and the restrictions will end soon. In the meantime, Gavin deserves all the ridicule he took for the French Laundry incident and more. The man truly has no shame.

Turns out the scandal gets worse. Gavin claims he was vigilantly masked throughout the event except to briefing take off the mask for the photo, which is an outright lie:
