On Monday a Federal Court ruling vacated the Biden Administrationās Mask Mandate on airplanes and other forms of transit.
The reactions across the country were priceless!
Plane loads of passengers cheering the news.
Stewardesses in tears saying they haven't gotten to take their mask off at work in two years.
Flight attendants walking the aisles asking passengers to throw their masks away.
What a party!
Without minimizing the struggle against communism, I get the feeling that being on a plane Monday night somewhat resembled what it was like to be in Berlin when the wall fell. Such jubilation and camaraderie upon the lifting of government oppression, it would be a plane flight to remember!
We are told that masks are no big deal, and that a sizable fraction of the public would wear them anyway even if there wasn't a mandate. That certainly wasn't the case last night. Without the Feds as a backstop not a single airline or airport was willing to maintain the mandate and if there were still some mask wearing on planes it was few and far between.
About the only negative I can take away from yesterday's reactions, it's that seeing all these people immediately throw off the masks when it wasn't required meant the vast majority of people were silently acquiescing to policies they disagreed with and very few had the courage to non-compliantly ditch their mask in protest, even in the terminals where there is effectively zero enforcement of the mandate. I always thought Americans had more backbone...
Be that at it may, the dropping of the airplane mask mandate means nearly all visible pandemic restrictions are now gone! Even if some less visible, but still pernicious, policies like the international testing requirements remain, the hope is these too will soon fall.
It does appear that the Biden Administration will not be appealing the ruling meaning It's Over!
Anyway, 0 and 2...
Update April 19th, 2022: It appears I spoke too soon, and Bidenās HHS Secretary is now stating that the White House will likely appeal the courtās ruling. So it looks like the maskers will die hardā¦
