Like many others, during the March Hysteria I too was gloving up to enter the grocery store and lathering every surface I could find in hand sanitizer. Now we know most of this was for nought.
While one would be forgiven in considering these actions trivial, the downsides of going along with hygiene theater are many: It's arbitrary, it's dumb, it's not listening to the science, it's inconvenient, it's expensive, it limits your freedom, and nobody is even asking the question if this is still worth doing? It is such a beautiful illustration about government policy in general.
Is should also be pointed out that those same exact principles apply to masks. It appears to matter little that the CDC and WHO explicitly did not recommend masking the general public in their per-2020 pandemic plans, Hygiene Theater demands you put on the mask and not ask questions. We ought to listen to the scientists, specifically the Danish scientists who ran a randomized controlled trial ( which ended in June ) on the effectiveness of masks in preventing Covid spread. Now months after the trial ended no journal will publicize their study, and Danish newspapers report it's possible the results won't be politically correct.
Do you really believe journals would refuse to publish this study if it showed that mask worked? In this political climate they'd be falling over themselves to be the first to announce that result. Why won't they publish the truth? Why that would be like admitting that the TSA has an 80 percent failure rate...
Anyway 0 and 2…
