There’s a recent op-ed from a former Obama Administration official detailing how off base the Popular Science narrative on climate change is from reality. It begs comparison to another scientific narrative far a field from the facts.
If the last year under Covid has taught me anything it's that very few members of the Popular Science establishment actually have a good understanding of the science they cover, and even those that do are often too cowardly to stick their necks out to buck the narrative.
The only real difference between Covid and Climate is that the Covid numbers are publicly available and fairly easy to understand. I know that we have been lied to about lockdowns, distancing, school closures, masks, etc. because I can verify the numbers myself.
As a recent example: last week the outcries coming from the public health and popular science establishments for Michigan to lock down even harder were at a fever pitch. But those of us looking at the data know that Covid infections in Michigan peaked 3 weeks ago, and hospitalizations peaked the following week...
So do I know whether the climate projections of long term warming, sea level rise, and extreme weather events are accurate? No, I haven't the first idea on how to start verifying those models.
But after a year of destructive lockdowns and school closures that Had No Measurable Effect on the virus are still being recommended by the same scientific establishment pushing those models and using similar scare tactics, I'm more skeptical than I've ever been. Simply put, I now reflexively oppose any "climate" measure that adversely impacts the lives of ordinary Americans. I'm more inclined to wait for the technological Unicorns to save us from possible climate destruction.
Anyway 0 and 2…
